Overview

A Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) is a type of rotating AC motor operating on the synchronous principle. Like conventional rotating electric motors, it consists of a stator (stationary part) and a rotor (rotating part), with the rotor fitted with permanent magnets.

The permanent magnets on the rotor generate a constant magnetic field, which interacts with the rotating magnetic field produced by alternating current in the stator windings. This interaction creates torque, causing the rotor to rotate in synchronism with the stator magnetic field.
